Now we live in global village.
The world is small now.
We are not living in a mining town, where everybody talks the same.
We are not living in a fishing village.
We are living in this global village, where so many dialects, so many accents, so many different ways of speaking are around us everyday.
Even in Australia, when I go back to Australia, I meet someone from Coober Pedyor meet someone from the city. Yeah, there is a little bit difference, a little.
But If I meet someone from another country, and they listen to my way of speaking, they will have some question marks.
They will have question, what do you mean? I don’t understand that.
So it is necessary to surround yourself, with as many different dialect as possible, many different accents, there are many different ways of speaking English.
Because look at the world now, the amount of Chinese people speaking English, the amount of Indian people speaking English, Singapore style English.
Then there’s five, you know, major countries, Australia, America, England, South Africa, and New Zealand, speaking English.
You know, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, all those different dialects. All speaking the same language.
So students have to realize and understand that there isn’t just one type of English out there.
There isn’t, you cannot say, I only understand American English, or I only understand British English.
It’s not enough.
You have to emerse yourself in other people’s way of speaking, other people’s accents, other people’s dialects.
Because in today’s business world, or today’s travel world, or today’s even social world, everyone speaks different English and it’s not gonna change.
It’s not gonna make, it’s not gonna back to one standard English.
That’s gone.
Nobody has ever spoke queens English, only the queen.
