The life span is around 37 only. So you can imagine in Japan we or you, we live here almost to 80. Right? And in Zambia is 37. 37 to 39. So it’s very short life span. One of the reasons is of course the health problem of, you have like AIDS, malaria deceases like that. And a lot of people who has never been to school. If you think of it, they don’t know, you don’t know, if you haven’t been to school, you don’t know that is important to do something very simple as washing you hands after being, doing some farming maybe, you have been out to the toilet, maybe you don’t washing your hands. If you have kind of decease, if you get malaria, your body is weak, and about that you are not wash your hands, you can spread decease, you can get very sick. It is very simple thing like that. Using a soap. Why should we use a soap? Why should we wash dishes. Clean dishes after each meal. Simple thing like that has never been learned, if you haven’t been to school.
So when we were there the first time in Mfuwe, this area, near very famous national park, called South Luangwa national park, We thought, or my wife was thinking of opening school for children. But there are many schools for children already.
However there are no schools for adults, almost no school for adults. So after the children come back home, after the school, they cannot really communicate with the parents. Because parents don’t really understand why they should be, they understand that they should go to school, but maybe not on a deep level, why education is so important.
So this is something that I think we, in the so-called rich world like Japan, Europe and America, we haven’t been thinking of that so far. All right? We just think “oh, let’s start school for children!” But if the children have no support from parents, I mean, you are lack in something.
